“Jak and Daxter” HD Remake in the Works!

It seems like there is a new trend going around.  Hollywood is making tons of ’80s remakes and video games are becoming obsessed with the HD remake.  Taking classics of every genre and updating them with today’s graphics.  Doing this, allows developers milk a little extra cash from gamers for the titles they have the fondest memories of.

Looking at a page from the most recent Sly Cooper Collection HD remake stems a rumor hinting at a Jak and Daxter (the popular PS2 platformer from Naughty Dog) HD remake.  The game stars a yellow-haired protagonist and a precocious otter/weasel and was arguably the first in a long line of successful platformer series such as Ratchet and Clank and the previously mentioned Sly Cooper.

Sony is definitely known for remaking some of their more popular PS2 franchises (God of War, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus) in HD, so it is no surprise when we keep hearing rumors regarding classic remakes.

So, take this rumor like you would any other rumor, but definitely make note that there is a market for Jak and Daxter (judging on the success of the first three titles) in HD, but it is always possible that this is never coming to pass.  Getting to re-experience Jak’s growth from a no-name hero to one that is a fully fledged bad ass would be fantastic, but for now, we always have our memories to go by.
