Photos From “Doctor Who” Christmas Special Reveal an Interesting Costume for the Doctor

14

This coming Saturday marks the end of Doctor Who’s sixth series and will hopefully answer a number of huge questions lingering in fans’ minds since the start of this “wibbly wobbly timey wimey” series.  We know that space suits have played a significant and recurring role in this series, and set photos from recent filming of the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special has revealed the Doctor in a very interesting costume: some sort of space suit!

The story — or at least the part caught by press — appears to take place in the 50s or 60s, as the Doctor is accompanied by a fashionable woman driving an “old-school” car. Curiously, the Doctor (donning a space suit of some sort) appears to need assistance returning to the TARDIS. A quick glance also reveals the lack of familiar faces — no Amy, Rory, or River — as the Doctor appears to be on his own.  Perhaps the most important observation: the Doctor isn’t dead!

Are you excited for the Christmas Special? Why do you think the Doctor is in a space suit? Will this help you survive the year-long wait until series seven (which we just reported)? And most importantly: what do you think of the Doctor’s hair being tied back?
