Video Preview of New Marvel One-Shot “Avengers” Prequel Arrives: “Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer”

As we mentioned back in August, Marvel will be releasing a new series of video shorts called “Marvel One-Shots”. Marvel has been hinting at their plunge into movie shorts for quite a while now and officially debuted their new initiative in late July at Comic-Con International, where the comic giant revealed “The Consultant” — a Marvel film short aimed at bridging gaps left in the story and explanation of The Avengers. The first full One-Shot, entitled “The Consultant”, was made available on the THOR Blu-ray (in stores this week).

The second One-Shot will release with the Captain America Blu-ray and is titled: “Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer”. A minute-long preview clip for this new short has hit the web showing Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), who serves under Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D, as he makes a pit stop on his way to Thor’s Hammer (you’ll remember the time-frame from the THOR movie). Coulson enters a convenience store, debates which type of donuts to purchase — powdered or chocolate — before the store is held up by two gun-wielding robbers. The scene then ends.

Check out the clip:

What do you think of these Marvel One-Shots? Are they helping further your immersion in the Marvel universe? Do you think they’re good ties between stories and a fun lead-in to The Avengers? And what do you think of the Agent Coulson character? Let us know!

Be sure to check out the original One-Shot, The Consultant!
