Gamers everywhere have patiently awaited for any news on Vavle’s next venture. We have known now for awhile that they have been hard at work on DotA 2, but other than the rumors regarding Half-Life 3 we have nothing.
Fortunately, Valve took it upon themselves to rectify the situation today, and they’ve done so by announcing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
The latest installment in the Counter-Strike series is now officially set to release in early 2012, and will be available on PC, Mac, Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and currently a new unnamed “next-gen console.” Valve did not go into detail regarding the new console, but it is easy to assume that the press release is referring to the Wii U – which makes perfect sense when you know that Valve’s co-founder Gabe Newell expressed interest in putting their game’s on Nintendo’s console.
Counter-Strike: Glodal Offensive will feature team-based gameplay that made the original as popular as it was, but will have brand-new maps, weapons, and characters. Also, you can look forward to some “updated versions of the classing Counter-Strike content.”
Luckily for fans, you won’t have to wait very long to see what CS: GO has in store; Valve plans for it to be available to play on the show floor of Pax Prime later this month.
