New Batman: Arkham City Trailer Reveals the Penguin as New Villain!

With San Diego Comic Con in full swing, Rocksteady have been generous enough to give us a new sneak peek at the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham City. With the new trailer, comes the unveiling of the new villains, including a surprise return of an old favorite, the Penguin.

With a very large expansion from the single location of Arkham Asylum to the now open-world enviroment of Arkham City, Batman will have quite a few more enemies to deal with.  Already seeing the roll that the Riddler is going to be playing, we can now take a glimpse of the newly-redesigned Penguin.

Take a look at the newest trailer out of SDCC courtesy of Gamespot, to get an idea of the direction the developers are taking with Oswald Cobblepot:

The new Penguin will be a surprise to many, seeing how he has a less-than-birdlike appearance and a cockney accent.  However, as angry as few fans may be by redesigning and updating beloved characters, nobody can accuse Rocksteady Studios’ with making a sequel after the success of the original.

From the looks of this trailer, it looks like the combat system is expanding as well, with Batman having the ability to take on large groups of enemies simultaneously.  It is hard to tell how much it will factor into new gameplay without getting a chance to actually preview the game for ourselves, but it is definitely fun to think about the possibilities.

Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 18 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
