Yesterday’s screening of The Return of the King concluded the special three week event of showing the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings trilogy in select theaters. Even though I wasn’t too enthusiastic about sitting for 4 and a half hours, obviously that didn’t matter anymore when the movie started. Despite its massive length, The Return of the King flew by even quicker than The Two Towers. As for the extended scenes, I thought that the scene with Saruman at Isengard stood out the most. I also really enjoyed all the little added scenes with Eowyn and Faramir.
To me this event felt like seeing the movies for the very first time. It is truly hard to believe that it’s already been 8 years since The Return of the King came out. I still think that The Lord of the Rings trilogy can easily compete in the visual department with any new movies coming out. Big screen really brought out all the magic that is the world of Middle-earth and made the experience truly unforgettable.
