A week ago today, Nintendo revealed their newest console, the Wii U, and showed us the wonderful touch-screen controller. A new console is awesome, but they left out a minor detail. What games are we going to see on this thing?
Of course, they did confirm two, Super Smash Bros. and Pikmin 3, but come on! That isn’t near enough to get us super pumped! Well, not to worry, Katsuya Eguchi, a Nintendo video game designer is talking about some possible details on a Metroid game for the Wii U.
During Kotaku‘s recent interview with Eguchi, he breifly touched on games like Zelda and Star Fox would look on the Wii U. He even stated that he was “sure” that we will see a new Metroid on the new console.
“I can’t give you any details now, but I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information. Maybe the player is looking at the screen but has the information that they need to defeat the enemy in their hands. You could look through the screen and scan your enemy and find where it’s weakspot is.”
It is almost expected to see a Metroid title being release for the Wii U, seeing as it is one of Nintendo’s most popular series. So hopefully the information we gathered from Eguchi is more than just wishful thinking. With details like the ones he gave us, it is almost hard not to believe that a Metroid game is already in the works.
