Lionsgate Confirms: Hunger Games Movie Adaptation to Span Four Films


The original Hunger Game series was written and released by Susanne Collins as a trilogy… yet word has hit the web that the books’ film adaptation is set to span four films, not three, following in the footsteps of mega-blockbuster franchises such as Harry Potter and Twilight.

The report first surfaced in via passing comment in an “Deadline New York” article discussing the films, which stated:

Lionsgate executives told Wall Street analysts this morning to expect big things from The Hunger Games, a series of four action films that the studio will release from the trilogy written by Suzanne Collins.

This report sparked a massive storm of attention surrounding the purported addition to the film franchise, which pushed Lionsgate to comment on the addition to fansites, stating:

We can confirm we have a deal that encompasses four (4) movies for THE HUNGER GAMES.

We cannot confirm any details beyond the below [the previous response listed above]at this time.
