Paramount has released the first two clips from Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, both of which show Transformer-free scenes from the movie (yet still remain exciting). The clips offer viewers a glimpse at Bay’s attempt to add a bit more depth to the Transformers films, perhaps after being chided for the previous films’ major focus on explosions and fast-paced action sequences.
The first of the two clips introduces us to two new characters: Dylan (Patrick Dempsey) and Sam’s new gal Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), who appear to be in the home or business of Dylan. It’s a short scene of the three characters interacting and doesn’t reveal much, other than that Carly worked/works for Dylan:
The second of the two clips is a bit more interesting, bringing us back to two of the series’ frequent characters, Robert Epps (Tyrese Gibson) and Lt. Colonel William Lennox (Josh Duhamel), both attempting to convince members of the armed services to join them in the fight for Chicago. The scene quickly cuts to the two characters and their new recruits jumping from a helicopter and gliding down to the ensuing battle in downtown Chicago:
