2010’s Worst: Razzies Announce This Year’s Nominees!

Every year since 1981, the Razzie Awards — awards for the worst actors and movies of the year — are announced shortly before the Academy Award buzz begins. I have to say I do agree with most of the nominees. There is probably a few that don’t belong on the lists and a few others that should belong on the list.

The part that is disappointing is so many scifi and fantasy movies are on the list. I wish they would make better movies in that genre. Don’t these movie studios realize that most of the highest grossing movies are scifi and fantasy. All they have to do is make a good movie and people will go see it.

There are so many good books out there to make good movies but most studios are afraid to do it; instead they work on remakes, which most do terrible or sequels, which most of the time are put out quickly and are worse than the first one. If a movie makes money, they think it has to have a sequel, even though with the ticket prices now and having a world wide release it doesn’t take that many people to see the movie for it to make money.

I hope a few of the movies in the works right now will be good enough to see, like “The Hunger Games” and “The Mortal Instruments”

      Totally agreed, MasterBrom.

    • uki-uki!

yeah those two series deserve to be done well . . . Hollywood manages to mess up even the best of books. Like Percy Jackson, if the plot had stayed the same it would have done SO much better, but they couldn’t even stick to the original plot . . . fail. . .

Yeah, it is these directors and screen writers who think they can improve on great book. You would think after so many failures they would get the hint, especially with the internet now they know why the movie failed. We need more directors like Peter Jackson, who did an amazing job turning the Lord of the Rings into an amazing movie, even though he left out one of my favorite characters, Tom Bombadil.

    • Most of the major studios are in it for profit, not for quality of movies. They make changes that they think will make them the most money, not changes that will make the best film. Greed will always ruin things.

I hope someday one of these studios will learn.

      • blah blah

i agree, which is why the eragon movie was absolutely terrible

I’ve always felt that the Artemis Fowl series would make phenomenal movies.or any of the series written by Tamora Pierce

        Totally agree!!

  • I agree with most of them and think that Clash of The Titans deserves to be on the worst movie nominess list, that movie was so bad.. so very bad.

    • Anonymous

I think it was quite good in comparison to the crappy/laughable 80’s version

  • Amaterasu

I vote for Eclipse sweeping the whole of the Razzies. I could think of less painful things to do with my freetime other than watching this movie like…having my finger and toe nails removed entirely one by one, and that incident where my left eyeball was removed with a spoon.

    • Bluefirepaw

      I completley agree! haha

    • SmartAlec

Ohoho! Is funny because Sasuke uses his left eyeball for Amaterasu!

  • Well ‘the Bounty Hunter’ was not that bad. But ‘The Last Airbender’ and ‘Eclipse’ should WIN THE WHOLE year

  • Docterhulk

Is it just me..or did these guys only see 6 movies this year…..this list was made by copy and paste and changint the award title

    • Anonymous

I’ve been reading around on different blogs and many people think the Razzies are chosen based on the amount of traffic they can get on their own website. This is one reason why Twilight is on the list, because the rabid fans flood their website with hits and that means more revenue. Granted most of these movies do belong on the list but there are other movies out there which needs this kind of recognition, but then if many people didn’t see it; it wouldn’t bring the traffic to the website.

      • I very highly doubt it. This year’s nominees included some pretty awful movies and most media don’t link back to their website. In addition, I was looking up visit statistics for their website and the hits aren’t that substantial. Certainly nothing they’d make money off of.

    • A lot of the award shows share the same nominees. Not because they only saw a few movies but because they felt that certain movies were THAT bad.

One thing I don’t understand is all the actors who were in Valentine’s Day. Are they on the list for Valentine’s Day? Because I thought that movie was pretty decent compared to other stuff listed on here (Miley Cyrus and Sex and the City 2, for example).
