Air Gear: Break on the Sky OVA

For fans of the series, the final episode of the anime was sheer disappointment; as a giant cliffhanger left thousands expecting a season two, to no avail. But years later, Oh! Great, the manga’s creator, has finally thrown us a bone with, currently 2, original video animations (OVAs) following the manga. Whether or not this foreshadows a season 2 has yet to be announced, but for the time being, we’ll have to settle for these OVAs.

The first OVA has already been released as a DVD included with the limited edition of the 30th volume of the manga on November 17th, 2010. Trick: 1 of the Break on the Sky “series” will cover the battle between Ringo and Ikki from the 16th volume of the manga. If you haven’t read any of the manga following the original series from 2006, the OVA may be confusing to you, but awesome nonetheless.

Check out the official trailer for it below. You can find it online if you know where to look.

The second OVA will be released on March 17th, 2011 with the limited edition of the 31st volume of the manga. This DVD will feature the “legendary” battle between Kogarasumaru and the original Sleeping Forest team from volumes 24 and 25 of the manga. As with the first, if you have only seen the original series and read none of the manga, you might be confused; but regardless, check it out when it is released. You still have a couple of months to read the manga before it comes out.

Here’s the official trailer for the second DVD.

If you want to start reading the manga from where the anime left off, start at Vol. 12, Chapter 103. Otherwise just start from the beginning. There are currently 300 chapters of this amazing on-going series.
