Avatar: The Legend of Korra

For all of you Avatar fans out there: if you have not yet heard, there is a new series that is expected to air on Nickelodeon in 2011. Taking place in the same world as its predecessor, The Legend of Korra will follow the story of Korra, the teenage female protagonist of the series.

The creators of the original series, Avatar: The Last Airbender say that the new spinoff series The Legend of Korra will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure. Hopefully this means the show will feature more graphic fight scenes or somewhat darker characters. But nonetheless, the “fun” aspect should be similar to the original.

The show takes place at least 70 years after Aang defeats Fire Lord Ozai. Korra, the new Avatar, must master the elements of earth, fire, and air. According to the president of Nickelodeon, Korra will be “hotheaded, independent, and ready to take on the world.” Unfortunately, Air Benders are of short supply, however, Aang and Katara’s son, Tenzin, is the Air Bending master who will teach Korra Air Bending. Unlike the original series, The Legend of Korra will take place in a single location: Republic City, in a world facing and anti-bender revolution.

The series is planned for 12 episodes currently, but hopefully more will follow. From what has been announced, this spin-off sounds pretty awesome and should be a great show to watch. I, for one, can not wait for it to air. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

damn, i was actually hoping to find out what happend to Zuko’s mother. they kinda left a cliffhanger there. i just hope this is as good as the original, because you know there will be alot of complaining if it isnt. I confess, even alittle from me.

I probably won’t like it as much as the original. Even though its from the same guys, most anime’s (even though Avatar is an American Show with Japanese Art, which is why most people call it an anime, when it is not) if I like it once, the squeal or even the spin off ends up being a let down.

    • blah blah

the japanese art makes it anime

      • Sinlaire

yes and no. Japanese art make it anime style but it simply cant be called an anime in truth because it doesn’t come from Japan. If it came from Japan it would be considered an anime no questions asked but by defenition alone because it originates from a non-eastern country its a “cartoon”. Its like the difference between the Cougar, Puma, and Mountain Lion. They’re the exact same thing. the only difference is that where you live calls it something different. Only problem here is that despite it being japanese art, its still a cartoon due to point of origin. Technicalities suck eh?

I think this may end up being rather decent. It will never compare to the original show, but it seems this will be following and interesting plot-line. It should at-least make up for the rather horrid hollywood movie based on the series that I refuse to watch a second time.

Haha. Thank god Shyamalan isn’t on this project eh? Well they are probably testing it out with only 12 episodes planned so far. So if it takes, we’ll probably see more.

Avatar the last airbender isnt an anime o_O

    • Kat

Its more of an anime than a cartoon. At least if you look at the definitions of each.

    • lucas

you know, in theory, it was considered by many an anime, albeit it being american

    • Elphiebelphie

      It’s drawn in anime style.

i wonder if Aang will help her like Roku helped him

  • kenisha the thinker

well, well. seems i guessed rightly for a change. i seem to be nailing 99% of my guesses these days. i actually entertained the though of aang and katara’s love working out. i also wish to find out about zuko’s mother. that one eluded me (as of yet, anyways).

  • Elphiebelphie

She looks like, 15 years old. Aang died 15 years ago in this series. So, he lived long, I guess but… AANG’S DEAAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! :’(
