In Theaters This Week


With Friday upon us, it’s time for our first weekly round up of what to expect in theaters this weekend!

Opening this weekend is The Warrior’s Way, a martial arts adventure film following the world’s greatest swordsman and his attempt to carve a new life for himself after leaving his warrior clan. The Warrior’s Way stars Dong-gun Jang and Kate Bosworth, is rated R and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Already In Theaters

Don’t forget that three fantasy/scifi movies are already battling it out in the box office, laying claim to the top three positions in last weekend’s domestic box office statistics.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 — Warner Brothers’ seventh and second-to-last Harry Potter film — has been in theaters since November 19th, earning a whopping combined total of $610,000,000 in domestic and international box offices. The seventh Potter film installment has garnered praise from both critics and Potter fans alike and sits atop this blogger’s list of favorite Harry Potter films. This film is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Tangled, Disney’s most recent animated release, has been met with both box office and critical success since its release on November 24th. The animated fairy tale offers a hilarious twist on the classic tale of Rapunzel and her “prince charming”, a bandit named Flynn Rider who takes refuge in her tower. Tangled is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Megamind, the action-packed animated scifi film from , is entering its fifth weekend in the box office and is still going strong. The tale, starring Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Brad Pitt, tells the story of failed villain Megamind and his constant bids to one-up his arch nemesis, Metro Man. Megamind is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 36 minutes.
